Journalist Manuel Xestoso interviews Manuel Ferreiro, member of ILLA, about the Universo Cantigas project.
Professor Manuel Ferreiro, director of the research project "Universo Cantigas", was interviewed by Sermos Galiza on the occasion of the recent publication of the volume Universo Cantigas I. Cantigas de Amor, a pioneering work and the first of its kind to be produced entirely in Galicia.
Throughout the interview, the ILLA member highlights the significance of this ambitious project, which began back in 2010, as a means of reclaiming and nationalizing Galician literary heritage. In his own words: “O conxunto das cantigas é o noso primeiro monumento literario nacional, a primeira grande obra literaria que posuímos. Como tal debemos considerala. Xa é hora de que na Galiza se lea, se interprete e se nacionalice ese patrimonio.”
