Events
This academic event will take place at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona on 16 October 2026 and aims to analyse the relationship between theatre and history during the 20th and 21st centuries.
Following the symposium "Confluències entre la història i la literatura", held in 2023, and the Journèe d'étude "Théâtre et histoire dans la Péninsule Ibérique (XVIIIe-XXIe siècles), which took place in 2024, the Centre d'Estudis sobre Dictadures i Democràcies ant the Centre de Recerca en Arts Escèniques at the UAB, FEMMEM Investigació-creación and the Grup ReSO at the Université Paul Valéry-Montpellier, in collaboration with various departments at the UAB, are organising this symposium, which will consist of two keynote speech (one on history and memory and the other on theatre and memory), and five invited presentation for each century (the 20th and 21st), which will explore the relationship between theatre and history in each of the peninsular theatre scenes.
The researcher from the ILLA Group will be responsible for the presentation on ‘Galician theatre & history in the 21st century’.
