April 2016
Ourense

The Otero Pedrayo Foundation is organizing "Abril Oteriano" in Ourense to commemorate the fortieth anniversary of the death of the writer Ramón Otero Pedrayo.

Ramón Otero Pedrayo was born in Ourense, on Calle de la Paz—known until 1839 as Calle de los Zapateiros—on March 5, 1888, and passed away in his birthplace on April 10, 1976, when the clock of the Ourense cathedral struck eight in the morning.

This year marks the fortieth anniversary of his death, and in honor of this, the Otero Pedrayo Foundation is dedicating a series of lectures, "Abril Oteriano," which will take place on April 2, 9, 10, 16, 23, and 30 at the Liceo of Ourense.

Two members of the Grupo ILLA from the University of A Coruña will visit the city of Ourense to present their studies and research on Ramón Otero Pedrayo: Laura Tato Fontaíña and Carme Fernández Pérez-Sanjulián. Laura Tato Fontaíña will present the lecture titled "Ramón Otero Pedrayo e o cinema" on April 16 at 12:00 p.m. Meanwhile, Professor Carme Fernández Pérez-Sanjulián will give a presentation titled "Ramón Otero Pedrayo, narrativa e identidade" on April 23 at 12:00 p.m.
