This new edition of the series organized by ILLA, in collaboration with AC Alexandre Bóveda, will begin with a presentation by Marta Seoane Rebollo
The lecture is titled "A morte en feminino: análise literaria da recreación teatral do pranto tradicional galego". It will analyze the traditional Galician 'pranto' in three theatrical works –A Contenda dos Labradores de Caldelas (1671) de Gabriel Feixoo de Araúxo, Os vellos non deben de namorarse (1941) de Castelao and A noite vai coma un río (1965) de Álvaro Cunqueiro– from a dual perspective: anthropological –the 'pranto' as a means to rationalize the pain caused by the death of a loved one– and literary, starting with the earliest examples of it in Classical Antiquity. The lecture will also explore its theatrical dimension and performative possibilities, offering a brief overview of various manifestations of 'pranto' that consider spectacle as a structural element.
Marta Seoane Rebollo (A Coruña, 1997) holds a degree in Galician-Portuguese and Spanish from UDC, where she also completed a Master's in Literature, Culture and Diversity, as well as a Master's in Teacher Training
