In ‘Facer calar este silencio: a galeguidade escénico-musicada no ocaso dos Séculos Escuros’, Javier Gándara will analyse how 18th-century music, theatre and public performances contributed to the formation of certain discourses on Galicia and the Galicians.

Javier Gándara holds a PhD from the University of Santiago de Compostela and is the author of *A música dos desprazados. Teatro lírico e galeguidade durante o longo século XVIII* (Compostela / Madrid / Lisbon), a book published by aCentral Folque which offers an innovative interpretation of Galician cultural history based on a study of musical theatre and the performing arts between the mid-18th and early 19th centuries.
