Iria Sobrino Freire holds a Ph.D. in Literary Theory and Comparative Literature from the University of Santiago de Compostela and, since 2009, has been a lecturer in the Department of Specific Didactics and MIDE at the University of A Coruña, in the Area of Language and Literature Didactics. Her current research interests include children's literature (picturebooks, oral traditional literature, children's literature publishing in Galicia), literary education, and the teaching and learning of the Galician language.

She has participated in numerous international conferences, notably those organized by the International Research Society for Children’s Literature (IRSCL), the International Association of Galician Studies (AIEG), the National Association for Research in Children’s and Young Adult Literature (ANILIJ), and the International Society for the Didactics of Language and Literature (SIDLL). Her work has been published in journals such as Language, Culture and Curriculum and the Boletín de Literatura Oral, as well as by publishers like Springer or Graó. She has been a visiting researcher at the universities of Lisbon and Glasgow.
