Pilar García Negro launches 'Galiza e feminismo en Emilia Pardo Bazán'
8th July 2021
Asociación Cultural Alexandre Bóveda

ILLA honorary professor's latest essay focuses on the political position, the attitude towards feminism and the vision of Galician language and literature held by the writer from Coruña.

On the centenary of the death of Emilia Pardo Bazán (A Coruña, 1851-Madrid, 1921), a writer who was fully integrated in Spanish literature of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, Pilar García Negro examines the author's feminism, her attitude towards the Galician language and literature or the treatment she gave to Rosalía de Castro. She also analises the way in which the author from Coruña presented herself as a Galician and the image she projected of the country and, lastly, her ideological and political position. In all these matters, García Negro lets Pardo Bazán speak and describe herself through her works and declarations.

The book launch on Thursday July 22 at 19:30 will be hosted by Asociación Cultural Alexandre Bóveda and will take place in front of the statue of Curros Enríquez in A Coruña. The author will be joined by Manuel Fernández Blanco and Henrique Alvarellos. In order to book attendance, please contact the association.
